The BMW 4 series has first been introduced in 2013. With the release of the F3X Series the 3 door coupe and cabriolet, based on the 3 series, have gotten their own name to create a greater distingushion between the models.
Since 2014 the 4 series is also available as a Motorsport variant. Equipped with a powerful straight six cylinder engine the M4 is nothing but slow.
